Adult Criminal Trial Evaluations Court-ordered and privately retained evaluations of competency to stand trial, sanity at the time of the alleged offense, capital sentencing evaluations, and other criminal trial-related issues. We work with adults and juvenile criminal defendants. We accept court-orders for evaluations from the courts of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Virginia.	Sex Offender Evaluation and Treatment Dr. Evan Nelson is a Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider in Virginia. He conducts court-appointed and privately retained psychosexual evaluations for sentencing hearings, sexually violent predator commitments, Child Protective Services, and in some instances for custody evaluations. Dr. Nelson uses the ABEL Assessment of Sexual Interest (AASI), the MONARCH 21 penile plethysmograph (PPG), and the Affinity 2.5, when appropriate. Sex offender treatment is available on a limited basis. Our office is not on the DOC provider list and does not offer a reduced fee schedule, nor are we a provider for any insurance company. The patient is personsally responsible for his therapy fees. At this time, because of Dr. Nelson's busy subpoena schedule, he can only conduct individual therapy and appointment times may be variable from week-to-week.

Child Custody Evaluations Dr. Michele Nelson conducts child custody evaluations and parental competency assessments for the courts and the Department of Social Services. For custody cases, she will only accept referrals where there is a court order for both parties to be evaluated.	Other Services Disability evaluations, guardianship, some types of fitness for duty evaluations, some types of emotional injury cases. We do not conduct workers compensation assessments nor do we provide general psychotherapy.

A note about payment: we accept fees paid by the courts and agencies, retainers from attorneys, cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. FPA is not a provider for any insurance company and does not accept insurance payments, MediCare, or MedicAid.
